The Download Status bar makes it easy to manage and view your downloads by displaying a bar at the bottom of your browser window. Unlike the download manager that comes with FireFox you don’t need to shuffle between windows.Firefox Plugins: ubuntumanual.org/posts/368/6-firefox-plugins-you-must-have

Thanks for efforts Alap. I hope it to be interesting.

Personaly I still prefer firefox over any other browser.I couldn’t adapt to the UI of Chrome. I still prefer search bar to be different from the address bar and menus to be on top of tabs. You may call me old-school boy. :p

Experimenting with Firefox 4 RC these days.. And waiting for all add-ons to work with it.

Nice observations Alap.

You will be surprised to know that most of the plugins I have listed here, provide you more functionalities than they promise.

Autopager will keep showing next pages on scroll on most of the sites which uses paging to show multiple pages. So Google is just one of them. You will be surprised to see that how easily on most of the blog sites it will keep showing you old posts (check following link with AutoPager and without AutoPager -http://www.zedge.net/themes/2340/nokia-5800-xpressmusic-themes/0-0-1-1/ ).

You are absolutely correct that Video DownloadHelper downloads the video again and does not pick it from the cache. I initially had a plug-in which used to take it from the cache, but now its not working anymore. However it was not able to work with all streaming sites, Video DownloadHelper works with all streaming sites (till now I have not found any site where it does not work). So I won’t mind downloading it again for future viewing or for sharing it with friends.

‘Undo Last Closed Tab’ adds an ‘Undo’ button just with your open tabs, so you will need to just click it once rather than going into different menu options. Its not limited to just one closed tab just keep clicking it and it will keep opening tab pages in the order they were closed.

P.S. - John you are right Cooliris is really a cool plugin, with it I also use Foxtab. Both are awesome plugins and should be in the list, sorry to miss them. :)

Dear Ajay,

Thanks for the inputs.

Some thoughts on the mentioned plugins:

1) Autopager: Google gives a setting in the preferences to
enable display of searches. "Number of results". Set it to 100 That's all

2) Download Status bar: Really Cool!!! I am gonna use it. But it will be a resource hogger. I usually go for performance enhancement.

3) Download videos Plugin: Had those, but isn't it wrong to download videos? Even if it isn't. I have found a glitch in all those plugins: THEY STREAM!! A video is interesting AFTER I have watched it. Then it WILL AGAIN Download, That's a waste of Bandwidth. A plugin should extract from a LOCALLY SAVED cache!!

4) ‘Undo Last Closed Tab’ : This plugin was useful in earlier versions of Firefox. But in 3 onwards they have provided that function (with muscles) in the HISTORY>> Recently closed Toolbar. Check it out.

Few more from my side –

1) Hate to click on next search page on Google – Use AutoPager (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4925) and just keep scrolling down. It will load the next search page automatically for you.

2) Hate to see a separate download box – Use Download Status bar (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/26) and you will have all your downloads in your status bar in a neat and clear fashion. So you will not need to switch to download window to just check status of any on going download.

3) Want video from any streaming website – You can easily find a plugin which will allow you to download videos from youtube, but why to restrict yourself to only youtube. Use ‘Video DownloadHelper’ plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006) and download any streaming media from any streaming site.

4) Opps closed the tab by mistake – Don’t worry simply use ‘Undo Last Closed Tab’ (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3082) and it will keep track of all closed tabs. At any time you can reopen the last closed tab by clicking on it.
