Probably everyone around me is complaining that these days gmail is super slow. Even I felt some hitches while accessing the gmail. The worst is when I deleted few mails from my home and they were back when I reopened my mailbox at office.
So i tried to clear cache, cookies, disable addons but nothing helped. So then I looked around decided to disable the customized theme for my Gmail Inbox and selected the default theme in Gmail Settings as show below.
Steps to change theme
1) Open your gmail Inbox
2) Goto Settings on top right corner of your inbox
3) Now click on the themes tab and you will see the above layout, select the classic theme and not the “Default” one.

My goodness, I have searched and searched for answers with the problem and have been told everything from it’s an issue with my security software to by internet browser… umm, no, it’s the darn Gmail template! Thanks so much, I was about to give up on Gmail all together!

Awwww … it might be something else making it slow. Might be a slower network connection , firebug(mozilla addon) or another XYZ plugin in the browser.
Some custom lab features might also slow gmail’s loading significantly.

I’ve checked all that. I literally was an immediate change. One day it worked fine, the next it was slow as molasses. Nothing was changed. Every other website works as before ; that being, quickly. But, Gmail is slow, and when I try to open a link contained within an email, it’s even slower.

I I just updated to windows 8 and this has solved this problem for me.
Perhaps this may help me get some sleep I certainly hope it does!
